CALL FOR PAPERS
NGender is an interdisciplinary seminar series on gender-related issues.
After the success of last year’s vibrant seminars, we now call interest for participation in the series which will run between January and June of the 2010-11 academic year.
NGender is organized by doctoral students and aims to bring together researchers/faculty/early career researchers from widely divergent fields.
We hope that by bringing together scholars from diverse schools we will create new opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and methods of inquiry.
There are approximately 100 DPhil students across Sussex who work in gender related projects. This shows that Sussex is still leading the field in gender scholarship. It also indicates the need for a sense of community amongst research students. Ngender aims to function as a networking event for doctoral students and provide a space where they can present their work-in-progress and get feedback from peers and faculty.
In addition to providing an opportunity to receive feedback, the seminars aim at enriching the way we think and speak about research today. It hopes to enable participants investigate, evaluate and connect with current trends and new developments in scholarship and research.
Seminars will take place every Tuesday 1-2pm and include a 20-minute presentation followed by discussion and questions.
We welcome proposals from researchers working in the following themes and topics:
Media and Cultural Production
Power and Politics
Religions and Spirituality
Please send your proposal (300 words) for a 20 minute presentation and a biography (including name, degree, year and research interests) by 10 December 2010.
All submissions and inquiries should be directed to:
